Charles Smart is a Partner and member of the Investment Committee. In his current role, he is focused on investments in enterprise software (Anaplan, AuditBoard, Braze, Clearbit, Docker, Gitlab, Gusto, Klaviyo, Looker, Lucid, Novidea, Pendo, Pluralsight, Sumo Logic and Wunderkind) and consumer internet companies (Poshmark, Rover, and Turo).

Before joining Cross Creek, Charles held management roles with DigiCert, a prominent internet security company, where he oversaw the product management team and corporate development. Prior to that, he worked as an investor for Battery Ventures, specializing in expansion and growth investments in application and infrastructure software companies. Charles began his career in Deutsche Bank's Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) investment banking group.

Charles first worked with Cross Creek as an intern in 2010 while completing his degree at the University of Utah. He was delighted to rejoin the team in 2017 as a principal. Charles has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Utah. In addition, he is fluent in Spanish and studied Spanish art history at the University of Oviedo in Asturias, Spain. Charles enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, as well as exploring the Wasatch Front on skis or bikes.
